Is your organization having trouble meeting Healthy People 2020 goals for breastfeeding? Are you concerned that a greater percentage of your clientele doesn't elect to breastfeed despite your best efforts at education. Does your staff have real buy-in on the importance of promoting and supporting lactation? We can provide workshops and training on various strategies and programs. We can discuss current trends, emerging movements, political and legislative efforts, identify stakeholders and offer strategies for action. Workshops can be tailored to your specific organization.
Cesarean rates are at an all time high, epidurals are nearly ubiquitous, and induction rates are at epidemic proportions. Has the increased use of birth technology resulted in better outcomes for our patients? If your organization would like to move toward 'mother-friendly' objectives and strategies or just promote better maternal and infant health, Perinatal ReSource can help. We work with organizations to provide assessment, planning, training, and evaluation of evidenced-based practice that promotes and supports normal birth.
Does your staff assume that African-American women have no desire to breastfeed? Research shows that healthcare providers are less likely to talk to African-American women about breastfeeding than they are their Caucasian counterparts. Successful lactation is an absolute imperative to improve African-American health and life. We can provide guidance on strategies for improving lactation rates. We also can promote greater understanding about African-American customs and beliefs surrounding birth and perinatal practices.
Does your Incident Action Plan take into account the special needs of pregnant women, new mothers and infants? Do you understand how disasters put this population at risk and how to plan to best meet their needs? Ms. Payne is NIMS compliant and certified in Basic Disaster Life Support, and is a Basic Life Support and First Aid instructor through the American Heart Association. She draws from her unique perspective as a former labor and delivery nurse and breastfeeding educator. She can assist your Incident Command System in anticipating and preparing for care of this very vunerable population.
Do you need to create a workplace policy for lactation? Do you need assistance setting up a lactation space in your workplace for employees and or clients? Ms. Payne can assist you in planning and creating a lactation space that is appropriate for your workplace and accommodates the needs of your workers and clients.
